भागवता उचुः
शिवराजस्य चरितं धर्मज्ञस्य महात्मनः |
सर्वज्ञेन त्वया कथितं परमाद्भुतम् ||
ज्ञानवैराग्ययुक्तानां विट्ठलैकान्तचेतसाम् |
सतां मध्ये तु भवता कथं'राजा प्रकीर्तितः ||
विरक्तो रामदासस्य क्व क्व शिवो राज्यकामुकः |
रामदासस्य शिष्यत्वं भूपतेर्वर्णितं कथम् ||
The bhagavatas said
The life story of mahatma Shivaji who was the true follower of righteousness was narrated by you, the all-knowing. It was wonderful. How could you narrate the story of a ruling king in the midst of great seers, who are unshakeable immersed in the devotion of Shri Panduranga and who are filled with wisdom and a lack of attachment? What. wide difference there is, between the self renounced Ramadasa and Shivaji attached to his kingdom! How could king Shivaji be the disciple of Shri Ramadasa?
