Muktadevi Charitam Vol III Book VIII Chp 3 Shlokas 20 - 23
शार्ङ्गदेव उवाच
संवत्सरसहस्त्राणि गतानि व्यर्थमेव हि |
योगाभ्यासेन घोरेण वृथा मे जीवितं गतम् ||
सिद्धिभिर्विविधाभिक्ष्च वञ्चयन् पामरान्नरान् |
तैरेवं पूजितो नित्यं कुहको मायया यथा ||
तस्य मे संप्राप्तं लोके बहून्यायूंषि जीवितः |
जन्मान्तरे कृतनैव पुण्येन किल दृश्यसे ||
कटाक्षदीक्षया देवि मे ज्ञानमुत्तमम् |
ज्ञानवृद्धां वयोबालां त्वामेव शरणं भजे ||
Sharngadeva said
Thousands of years have been wasted. My life has been spent in vain in very austere training and exercises of yoga. Like a magician who leads a life of cheating people, I have also deceived the payment, displaying my mystic powers. I was worshipped by those innocent people. I have been living on this earth for a very long time. You have given me darshan now due to my good merits amassed in the previous births. Oh! Devi! I take refuge in you, who are young in age and very mature in the acquisition of wisdom. Bless me with blemishes Gnanadeva with a very glance of your eyes.
