दामाजिपण्डितो नाम कक्ष्चिद्वैष्णवपुङ्गवः |
भार्यया गुणवत्यापि चक्रे गार्हस्थ्यमाश्रमम् ||
तयोर्विट्ठलकारुण्याज्जज्ञे भक्तिमतां वरः |
नामदेव इति ख्यातः पुत्रः सद्गुणसम्युतः ||
स कदाचित् पण्डितोपि दूरदेशतोsभवत् |
तदा माता गुणवती नामदेवं तमब्रवीत् ||
A great vaishnava named Damaji Pandit was leading a happy married life with his wife Gunabai. Due to the unbounded mercy of Lord Panduranga, they got a son named Namadeva who was good-natured and had deep devotion to Lord Hari. Once that scholar had gone to a distant place.
