Shri Sadguru said

Some persons acquire control over their minds with the practice of eight fold yoga and then meditate upon the Supreme Being that is omnipresent and eternal. Some others are very pleasantly entrapped by Shri Krishna, the quintessence of divinity. They attain a self oblivious state standing beyond the precepts of the Vedic and earthly code of conduct. One’s real strength lies in gaining the mercy of Shri Krishna who is the boundless ocean of compassion. What is the use of all other activities forgetting this? One who engaged in adopting all other means of attaining salvation fails to find peace in them. Finally he takes recourse to Krishna bhajan and is amply rewarded. Hence we should give up all other practices ‘Sadhanas’. Unperturbed and with firm belief we should take shelter in Shri Govinda.

Dadu was in the spell of divine ecstasy. He fainted and fell at the holy lotus feet of Shri Krishna, his hairs standing on end. Shri Keshava, the benefactor of bhaktas lifted him up and consoled him. Then as commanded by Shri Krishna, Dadu always wandered all over the earth and established the Bhagavata Dharma everywhere. Dadu, the compassionate, destroyed the evils of the Kailyuga by establishing the luminous Bhagavata Dharnma. He cast off the distinctions of castes and spread Krishna Bhakti. One who reads the life story of the merciful Dadu attains intense devotion to the lotus feet of Shri Damodara.

Thus ends Chapter Nineteen entitled ‘Dadu Charitam’ of Book VII of Shri Vaishnava Samhita composed by Shri Shri Krishna Premi Swamigal.

Dadu saw the omniscient Shri Krishna, who is the Lord of all the worlds, as an ordinary brahmana. He invited Him to his ashram and paid him due reverence. Pleased with his Pooja, Bhagavan Shri Krishna preached him the noble and pious Bhagavata Dharma. Dadu suspected that brhmana to be Lord Govinda Himself. Hence he repeatedly and respectfully asked Him who he was. Bhagavan, Shri Krishna, induced by His mercy, cast off the disguise of a brahmana suddenly, and gave him darshan as Shri Krishna Himself. He was lotus-eyed. He resembled the rain-bearing clouds in His complexion. His smiling countenance was like the bright moon. He was excelling Manmatha Himself standing as Manmatha.

Once that man of wisdom left his house and reached the dreadful forest, with a free mind full of the earnest desire to have Krishna darshan. Longing to have Krishna darshan, he was worshipping Lord Krishna, chanting the Divine Name of ‘Krishna’ repeatedly with single-minded devotion. In the twelfth year from that day, Bhagavan , Shri Shyamasundara gave darshan to Dadu in the form of an old brahmana.

As Dadu had a clear knowledge of the essence of the moral code of life, he accepted the request of his father. Though a gnat and a man of dejection, he returned home and entered the life of a householder. He followed the code of dharma assigned to a householder and led a pious life. He was contented with what he happened to get unsought. He was always happy and was bereft of sense cravings. The great bhagavata Dadu spent his time singing endlessly the glory of Shri Krishna, the embodiment of the divine truth, divine wisdom and divine bliss.

When the son reached the adolescent age, the father arranged his marriage. When mahatma Dadu came to know of the decision of the father, with unshakeable determination, he left the house and reached the forest. The kind-hearted Lodiram became very sad to find his son missing. He searched for him all over that place, and finally found him in the forest. That distinguished brahmana pacified and soothed his son who had so much remarkable and determination, and brought him back home with all kindness.

His father fondly called him ‘Dadu’. The baby grew fast as the crescent moon, under the care of the parents. Unlike the other children in the world, Dadu was disinterested in playing with toys. All the time, he was immersed in Krishna dhyana with closed eyes. Though Lodiram was a courageous man, he was disturbed to find his child being extraordinary. He was motivated by his paternal love for the child and failed to understand the glory of the boy.

A bhakta, with innate piety of heart, wisdom and detachment and freedom from the bonds of illusion and desires, is born very rarely on this earth. One should identify such a noble man who is born on this earth as a vaishnava at the command of Shri Vishnu. And one should surrender at his feet with an ardent desire to gain salvation. Such vaishnavas who are rid of lust and anger are endowed with noble qualities like poise and calm, and have dedicated their entire life to Hari dhyana are very rare to find in this world.

Enchanted by his devotion, Lord Nandakumara gave him darshan delightfully playing on the flute. He appeared with a bluish complexion resembling that of a dark rain-bearing clouds. He was very charming with the three elegant curves of His body. He had a very broad chest, rubbed with fragrant sandal-paste. He was adorned with many exquisite ornaments; He was clad in yellow-silk and was wearing a garland of sylvan flowers and a tilak of kasturi. Looking at this beautiful form of Shri Krishna, he became immensely happy. He stood there with folded hands forgetting the act of winking. He prayed to Him pleading to the Lord to bless him with Bhakti in every birth. Shri Muralidhara, the ocean of compassion cast on him a sidelong glance and blessed him.
