Shri Sadguru said

Heh! Seers! I shall now narrate to you the life story of Shri Nandadasa. It is capable of enhancing transcendental bliss. Shri Krishna plays in the holy Brindavan eternally. The pious and devoted prema bhakta of Lord Krishna perceive Him with their inner eye of wisdom. The bhaktas, in their state of trance, play happily with Shri Nandadasa. The ordinary men of the world do not realise or understand this.

Having said this, Govindadasa shed tears recalling the softness of Shri Krishna's heart. King Akbar was quite surprised to know the weet disposition of the bhakta. He returned home with Tansen. Shrinatha gets pleased with one who reads or listens to this wonderful story of Govindadasa, and blesses him.

Thus ends Chapter Nine entitled 'Shri Govindadasa Charitam' of Book VII of Shri Vaishnava Samhita composed by Shri Shri Krishna Premi Swamigal.

Shri Govindadasa replied

Oh! King! My aalaap in the raga Bhairavi has moved even the firm heart of you, a mleccha. Then what would have happened to the naturally soft heart of the young Krishna? I am much worried. Hence I have given up singing that raga. At least in future Shri Krishna will not be troubled.

Once Govindadasa was singing the raga Bhairavi very melodiously and calling out for Lord Shyamasundara, sitting near the pond Govindakunda. Emperor Akbar came there at that time, accompanied by Tansen. Hiding behind a tree, he listened to the music and was greatly moved. Govindadasa, the bhakta could realise that Akbar was touched by his song in the raga Bhairavi. Immediately, he took a vow that he would never sing in future the raga Bhairavi. Seeing this, Akbar asked him very humbly what his fault was and why Govindadasa did so.

Listening to these words of Shrinatha, Vitthalanatha consoled and pacified Govindadasa with great affection, using many sweet words. Taking that most fortunate one inside the temple, he made him get seated near Shrinatha, and served food to both of them. The two innocent playmates, Shrinatha and Govindadasa ate happily, conversing with each other.

Oh, My mother! Only you are saying a lie, because of your love for Me. Govindadasa is the true winner. Only I got defeated in the game. Even then I have snatched away the marble, and have come to the temple. Govindadasa is angry with Me. Hence, I do not like to eat now. Is not Govindadasa My bosom friend? I have cheated him. He is standing there under the tree and crying. Dear Mother! Please bring that good boy, my dear friend, here. I want to eat along with him.

Govindadasa was thus brushed aside by Shri Vitthalanatha, who was filled with motherly love for Shrinatha. Govindadasa became very angry and desperate. Shri Govindadasa said

Oh, mother! Only I am the winner, and Shrinatha is the loser. You are praising Shrinatha because you are related to Him

Shri Vitthalanatha said

My child! You are lying. Go back to your house. You are a bad boy, not fit to play with my child, who is very good.

Shri Govindadasa said

(Addressing Vittalanatha, who considered himself to be mother of Shri Krishna, he said as follows.). Oh divine mother! Yashoda! it is only your son who is going beyond limits. It is only he who acts without respect. I am very good. You are unnecessarily scolding me.

Shri Vittalanatha said

Oh, playfyl boy! Let it be so. You may be a very good boy. Yet what mistake did Shrinatha commit?

Even when He was defeated (against the rules of the game), Shrinatha picked up the marble and started running away. Govindadasa followed Him till they reached the temple as he wanted to hit Him with the marble (as per the rule of the game). But the priests did not allow the angry Govindadasa inside the emple. They reported the matter to Shri Vittalanatha. Shri Vitthalanatha came to Govindadasa, who was blazing with anger against Shrinatha, and told him the following:

Once, Shrinatha, the beloved son of Nanda, was playing marble with Govindadasa under a Kadamba tree. Shri Shyamasundara, who has thousands of cosmic entities or Brahmandas as His playthings, was playing with Govindadasa. He, whose mercy is sought with great longing even by the devas like Brahma, was playing with Govindadasa with a lot of love for the latter. That Eshwara (Lord of Lords), who is not realised even by great seers of austere penance, was playing with Govindadasa. That Supreme Soul, who is spoken of by the Vedas as the eternal, attributeless Supreme Being was playing happily with Govindadasa.

He developed a sentiment of friendly love (sakhya prem) for Shri Krishna, and got engaged in many kinds of divine pastimes with the Supreme Soul. Bhagavan, Shri Krishna came under the spell of his devotion, and hence He gave darshan to Govindadasa. Shri Bhagavan engaged in many sports with him coming in His true form. Daily that bhakta used to play happily with Shrinatha in the forest situated under the foot of Govardhana Hill. He appeared to be almost a lunatic.

Shri Sadguru said

There was a great vaishnavottama named Govindadasa. He was the follower of Shri Vitthalanatha. He had Krishna kirtan as the only aim of his life. He was a great composer too.

Man unnecessarily bears the deadweight of his body, which is a burden for the earth, forgetting Krishna kirtan and the meaningful stay on the Govardhana Hill. The very name of Paramanandadasa became meaningful as he had deep longing for Krishna prem. Simple living and high thinking - this noble ideal of the sadhus appeals to all the people on this earth. Does it not? Those proud people who take delight in displaying their wealth rolling in pomp and show do not understand the meaning of such a simple and pious life.
