At one time, Vishnudasa the ascetic mahatma who had subdued his senses completely left that couple and started on a journey in order to engage in severe penances. Thus Govardhana lost the association of the sadhu. Though he was righteous, he got caught in the company of the wicked. Due to bad company he forgot his family, his house and his guru, within a short period. With eyes turned red due to continuous drinking, he roamed about the streets babbling something.

Family life which normally results in attachment and bondage to this earth brought the Vaikuntha here for them due to their association with Shri Vishnudasa.

Govardhana was immensely happy to see him. He paid obeisance to him with great regards along with his wife. Mahatma Shri Vishnudasa was very much pleased to see them both so good natured. Hence he gave them Vaishnava deeksha and made them true vaishnavas.

The Yadu clan became extinct only due to drinking. Yet those who drink do not realize that it will destroy their entire line. Forbearane, truthfulness, sympathy, peace, non-violence, equanimity, rectitude and righteousness get destroyed by drinking. Laziness, sleep, lunacy, madness, misunderstanding, feuds and death are fostered by drinking. One who is lost in drinking becomes angry and commits the murder of his own father, mother, teacher, friend, wife and son.

Drinking which dampens one’s intellect is not good. There is no greater sin than drinking that causes wholesome destruction. Due to bad company, men develop a taste for drinking. Intoxicated with drinks, men disown even their relatives. A drunkard spends all the hard-earned money in drinking and roams about the earth like a lunatic even deserting his Wie and children. A drunkard does not even feel his robes slipping down as he is intoxicated to that extent. Alas! He wanders all over lamenting. A drunkard who is highly intoxicated does not understand what should be done and what should not be and what should be said. He even goes to the extent of killing his own wife and children.

Getting this advice the king took an oath to give up gambling. Shri Jagannatha, the Lord Goddess Lakshmi, gave him darshan in His true form, made him extremely happy and then disappeared. From that day, giving up gambling the king spent all his time in Hari kirtan. Sadhus should abstain from gambling that causes the destruction of one’s wisdom, intelligence, wealth and dharma.

The prasadam of Lord Vishnu is sought eagerly by the devas like Brahma, all the seers and vaishnavas. But, alas! I have brushed it aside, as I am a sinner. I am punishable for this offense. Once the king despite being a bhakta forgot even visiting the Jagannatha temple as he was deeply immersed in gambling. Even then, the loyal priest of that temple came to that place where the king was with the prasadam of Lord Jagannatha. The king was deeply involved in gambling. When he saw the priest he stretched his left hand to get the prasadam. The brave priest did not give the prasadam in the left hand of the king. He simply returned to the temple. When the game was over the king became conscious of himself and his surroundings. He came to know how he had abused the prasadam. Immediately he realised his mistake. He became extremely sad. He gave up food and went on lamenting.

An ordinary man who is thus tempted and cheated by a gambler takes interest in gambling. He gets ready even to pledge his wife like the noble Dharmaputra. Despite being very intelligent, courageous, strong in gambling he loses everything. He may have to go in exile to the forest like emperor Nala. A gambler gets intoxicated and loses the discretion to distinguish between right and wrong. He resembles Balarama who thus killed his own relative Rukmi. Hence, whatever be the suffering caused by poverty, a determined person should never resort to gambling.

Beholding Shri Krishna, the Lord of the worlds, face to face, Charanadasa prayed to Him like this in words choked with emotion. Then, as ordered by Shri Govinda, Charanadasa spread Krishna Bhakti all over the world. He used to visit each village singing the praise of Shri Krishna and make many people follow the path of Bhakti. Thus getting the coveted darshan of Shri Krishna due to the blessing of Shri Shuka and becoming a great preceptor, Charanadasa established and safeguarded the Bhagavata Dharma in this world. One who reads with involvement the life story of Charanadasa, that can eradicate all evils, reaches the lotus feet of Shri Keshava.

Within a short time, Shri Krishna, the beloved of Devi Radha, due to unbound mercy appeared before him. Shri Krishna, the greatest rasika and the enchanter of the Gopis appeared before him in His unwithering youthful form with His hand on the shoulder of Shri Radha. He had a bluish complexion resembling that of a rain-bearing cloud. His countenance resembled the full moon in its beauty and lustre. He was chewing scented betel and nut. He was holding the flute in one hand. His head was beautified with a peacock-plume. His body was rubbed with fragrant sandal paste. He was wearing glittering pearl-studded kankanas in His hand and golden tinkling anklets that caressed His lotus feet. He was wearing the Koustubha and golden yellow silk dress.
